Hi!

My name is Kelly, and I am a married mother of two. I am originally from Newfoundland and relocated to Calgary in 2006. My husband, who was born and raised in Calgary, works for the City of Calgary.
Our son is 18 and has always had a natural talent for connecting with young children—he is truly an exceptional big brother. He spent his early years in childcare, first with another educator and later with me when I became an educator after he turned four.
Our daughter is 8 and is incredibly sweet, caring, and eager to learn. She is an avid reader who loves sharing stories with her friends and often enjoys taking on the role of “teacher” during play.

A home filled with love - and pets!

At our day home, we believe that a home is truly not complete without pets. We have a deep love for animals, and we think children benefit greatly from growing up around them. Being around pets not only helps children learn responsibility and kindness, but it also gives them opportunities to engage in nurturing behaviors and create lasting bonds.
It’s always so much fun to watch the kids interact with our furry friend, whether it’s feeding, playing, or simply enjoying their company. These interactions foster empathy, compassion, and a sense of connection to the world around them.

Nova

We have a 5 and a half year old Siberian Husky who is incredibly sweet, loving and amazing with children. She attends daycare once every week or two and is very well socialized and loves to talk/sing, like most Huskies! She also loves to meet new people and gets so very excited at the opportunity to do so. Nova also has an important job here at the day home that she takes great pride in, clean up duty! If our friends happen to drop (dog safe) food on the floor while eating, she is so excited to help clean up once we are all finished! hehe

Fish Tank

I have a 75 gallon, planted aquarium with angelfish, gouramis, cardinal tetras, several species of plecos/algae eaters, shrimp and corydoras. I have been in the aquarium hobby since I was a child and the children love watching the fish and interacting with them!

Mourning Gecko's

We have a terrarium with 5 mourning geckos. These tiny reptiles are especially fascinating because they’re parthenogenetic—all of them are female and can reproduce without a male! As our babies grow, we expect the population to increase over time. They’re most active at night and sometimes make soft, chirping sounds. The children love spotting them when they venture out of hiding. More photos coming soon!

Loki

We recently added a new pet to our family that I have wanted for a very long time. It's a male, Ambilobe Panther Chameleon we named Loki. (His name means colourful and mischievous god in Norse mythology.)  He came to live with us all the way from a breeder in Ontario. He is only a baby (hatched May 12, 2025) and we are so excited to see his colours develop as he grows!
Ambilobe Panther Chameleons are one of the most colorful and fascinating reptiles in the world! Native to Madagascar, these chameleons are famous for their brilliant color patterns that can include shades of red, blue, green, orange, and yellow. What’s especially cool is that each individual’s color can vary depending on its mood, temperature, and environment.
Males are particularly vibrant, showing off bright colors to attract mates or establish territory, while females are typically softer in tone. Ambilobe Panthers also have independently moving eyes that can look in two different directions at once, giving them a full 360° view of their surroundings. Their long, sticky tongues can shoot out to catch insects in the blink of an eye, and their prehensile tails act like a fifth limb to help them balance and climb.

Not only are they visually stunning, but they also have unique personalities and behaviors that make them incredible to observe—whether in the wild or as carefully cared-for pets.
We really have a love for animals here and the children are taught from day one how to respect and be gentle with pets of all types!
