I do not fill spaces on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, when I receive notice of an upcoming vacancy (usually 1-2+ months in advance), I review my waitlist to assess which families' needs align with the available space. I then reach out to those families to confirm if they still require care and schedule an interview.
During the interview process, I carefully consider families who I believe will be the best fit for my day home. Communication is key for me, so I prioritize families with whom I can establish a good rapport. I also consider factors like similar parenting styles, schedules, and children’s ages and interests, ensuring that all the children in my care can bond and grow together.
